John Lowes officially announced his candidacy for Sheriff of Hamilton County, Indiana, seeking to fill the position currently held by Sheriff Dennis Quakenbush, who will be term-limited in 2026.

“I am excited to officially announce my candidacy for the office of Sheriff of Hamilton County, Indiana,” Lowes said. “After careful thought and consideration, and with the full support of Sheriff Dennis Quakenbush, I am stepping forward with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to serve and protect our community.”

With over 25 years of experience in law enforcement, Lowes currently serves as Chief Deputy, the second-highest-ranking position at the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. His extensive career has provided him with firsthand insight into the challenges facing the community and the positive impact of strong, compassionate leadership.

“I am running for Sheriff because I believe we can create an even safer, more united community by embracing a vision of law enforcement rooted in trust, transparency, and accountability,” Lowes stated. “Hamilton County has a well-earned reputation as one of the safest communities in the nation, and I am confident we can build on this legacy to make it an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Lowes highlighted the importance of community involvement in his campaign, inviting citizens to join him in his mission to uphold justice and protect freedoms.

“I ask for your support as we embark on this journey to strengthen our community,” he added. “Your involvement—whether through volunteering, donating, or spreading the word—will make a tremendous difference as we move forward together. Let’s work together to ‘Keep Hamilton County Safe.’”

Lowes looks forward to meeting with community members, listening to their ideas, and sharing more about his vision for Hamilton County’s future.
